How To : Update the Firmware of your mObridge

All mObridge products allow for the easy updating of the firmware. This allows you to get updates to support new iPod versions, new mobile phones, and new vehicles.

1. To update the firmware you will need access to the SD-Card slot located on the side of the mObridge.
2. Copy the *.fif file(s) that carry the new mObridge firmware to the root directory of an SD-Card.
3. The firmware will automatically update when both the vehicle and mObridge are powered on.
4. Typically the software update process will take no longer than 30 seconds and mObridge will automatically restart with the new firmware version, but it is a good idea to leave the vehicle on for at least 10 minutes.
   
   • Note: if there is a Parrot (Bluetooth) software file, this may take another 30 to 90 seconds.  First the mObridge SW file is applied, then the unit restarts, then the Parrot SW is applied.
5. Please ensure that mObridge remains powered during the update process by keeping the headunit (radio) power ON.
6. In vehicles that allow you to get CD-text, you can verify the mObridge firmware version under CD6.
7. After you've done this it is a good idea to allow the vehicle to "go to sleep".  That is, turn EVERYTHING OFF and lock the doors.  Leave the car alone, dorment and locked for 10 minutes before going back and trying to use any functions.

• About the SD card: the SD card should be something high-quality - we do endorse SanDisk as the card of choice.  Despite looking similar and slotting the same, SD cards vary in their adherence to the standards.
• Format of the SD card: We recommend formatting your card as FAT16 as opposed to FAT32.

Using the mObridge Update Wizard

The mObridge Update Wizard can also be used to update the firmware of your mObridge device, as long as you have a mObridge developer cable or using a bluetooth dongle with an ABT2010.

Many of our installers have access to a mObridge developer cable, so you may choose to have your installer perform the update.
